Description	The posterior commissure region is made up of cells which aid in vocalization. More importantly, it is the region of the larynx most associated with the pharynx. This makes it the first area to be exposed to material from the stomach during laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR); a mechanism suggested contributing to cancers and anomalies in the larynx. Due to its contact with LPR, posterior commissure cells are an attractive model to study laryngeal disorders. The Immortalized Laryngeal Posterior Commissure Cell Line retains its squamous phenotype and continues to express CK5 and CK8 markers after immortalization.

Propagation	Use of PriCoat? T25 Flasks (G299) or Applied Cell Extracellular Matrix (G422) is required for cell adhesion to the culture vessels. Grow cells in ECM-coated culture vessels with the following conditions. The medium for this cell line is Prigrow X.1 medium available in ABM, Cat. No. TM010. Atmosphere: air, 95%; Carbon dioxide (CO2), 5%. Temperature: 37.0°C.
Preservation	1. Freeze Medium: Complete growth medium with 20% FBS and 10% DMSO. 2. Storage Temperature: Liquid nitrogen vapour phase.
Quality Control	Real Time PCR was used to quantify SV40 gene expression in immortalized cell line.
Disclaimer	1. The CoA for this product (provided upon request) verifies the cell-type specific gene expression via RT-PCR only. All test parameters provided in the CoA are conducted using abm's standardized culture system and procedures. The stated values may vary under the end-user's culture conditions.
